Colin Taylor

Colin graduated in Marine Biology at Swansea in 1979 and subsequently completed a Masters in Estuarine Ecology at Stirling in 1984. He has worked in the marine and coastal sciences throughout his career, firstly for one of the regulatory authorities in Scotland then for a series of electricity companies. 

Prior to his retirement from full time work in 2018 he was Électricité de France’s principal marine scientist in the UK, having developed then led the marine sciences programme supporting the design and assessment of the new nuclear power station developments at Hinkley Point and Sizewell. 

Since retiring he has been working part of the year as an expedition guide and lecturer on small cruise ships working in the Arctic, around Antarctica, and the UK. More recently returning to undergraduate ways, he is currently completing a course in archaeology at Aberdeen. Married to Linda and with two sons, one a software engineer and physicist and the other a geneticist, he is a long term member of CiS and is actively engaged in his local church near Inverness.
